«The golden age of Marius Petipa»

 

 

      In Russia, 2018 will be dedicated to the ballet and the 200th anniversary of the choreographer Marius Ivanovich Petipa. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, Petipa has staged more than 60 ballets, the best of them became examples of classical choreography.

      Creative collectives of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region are preparing events and projects dedicated to the great master. MBI Choreographic theater – studio” Artis Ballet ” initiates the project “The Golden Age of Marius Petipa” with the support of the St. Petersburg Section of CID – UNESCO.

 

The purpose of the project “The Golden Age of Marius Petipa”:

     preservation of Petipa’s classical ballet heritage and drawing attention to Russian ballet in Russia and abroad.

Objectives of the project:

    •  re-creation of lost ballets and preservation of the choreography of Petipa;

    •  attracting attention to the ballet art of the younger generation of Russia;

    •  promoting of the creation of a common cultural space for classical ballet at the international level;

    •  presentation of the selected ballets of Marius Petipa to the expert commission for their inclusion into the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
